The iPad's Onscreen Typing Solution Isn't a Solution At All
Before launch, we spent a lot of time thinking about how you might be able to type on the iPad, seeing as plain onscreen keyboards one 10-inch tablets are just, well, awkward. But apparently, Apple doesn't think so. The above left image was a crude mockup, and it was supposed to illustrate a problem, not a solution. The above right image is what Apple actually released. Here's what we had to say about it in our hands-on: Typing in portrait is better than anticipated but still quite a stretch for our average-sized hands, which means that letters like F G and H will take a moderate conditioning for some. What about in landscape mode, sitting flat on the table? Well this is problematic too, as the iPad sort of wobbles. The back is not perfectly flat, meaning your typing surface is never perfectly flat, so the virtual keyboard becomes that much more difficult to use. Sounds passable for a media consumption device, but seriously, this thing's got its own version of iWork—you're supposed to type on it. That explains the giant hardware keyboard attachment, I guess! via @ GIZMODO

Apple has released the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK to developers which reveals some features about the iPad. The 3.2 OS only runs on the tablet and will not run on the iPhone or iPod touch. The iPad will have External Display Support. This means iPad applications will be able to target display content to an external screen which would be connected via the dock connector. A shared file directory is now provided that will mount on your Mac or PC when the device is connected. iPad applications will be able to access this directory, making it easy to transfer documents to and from your computer. While the iPad is able to support Universal Applications there is no Multitasking. The official documentation indicates that only one application can run at a time. read morevia

Evidence for the possible existence of a forward-facing camera in the iPad was uncovered by repair company Mission Repair in a shipment of replacement iPad enclosures it acquired on Tuesday. A "spot" that closely resembles the holes present in the Unibody Macbook exists within the iPad frame. Mission Repair confirmed that the camera from the Macbook does fit into place on the frame, with the lens, LED, and ambient light sensor all lining up. AppleInsider first reported that the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK provided evidence that the shipping iPad could support a camera. According to one developer, the native Contacts application on the iPad offers the option to take a photo, in addition to choosing an existing one. This adds some validity to the rumors that Apple may still be working on a camera-equipped iPad that could recognize the face of its user, as reported by the Wall Street Journal in the days before the reveal of the iPad. The article mentioned that it was "unclear whether the feature would be included at launch." via
